These latest releases from Scarborough are really on the money and in a blind line up I be hard pushed to tell you this was from the Hunter. I recently tried the 2008 and while the quality for that vintage could have just pipped the 2009, this is a dead set delight. It sees 100% new French Oak for 15 months and sees a portion of solids added to the ferment, and then kept on lees and stirred regularly. It’s certainly Burgundian in style and the oak is really impressive without being too demonstrative.

It’s got a piercing citrus drive on the nose with aromas of crème brulee, pineapple and melon. The palate shows how the skillful oak and lees solids add overall complexity. It’s creamy with lovely citrus and grapefruit notes, a slight oak influence on the bright acid finish. Really impressive for the price.

This social media thing is a blast, I like a good tweet as much as the next man but facebook is so like last year. However people tell me it’s a really nice way of connecting with an older audience, so lets see how many friends and followers I can make…
