These wines both hail from one of the best estates for Albarino in Rias Biaxas, in fact Marisol Bueno was instrumental in getting the region a D.O. back in 1988. About eight and a half acres are planted to Albarino with Marisol’s daughter now in charge of making the wines.
Camino Del Pelegrino Rias Baxas Albarino 2009
Vibrant and savoury are the two buzz words that come to mind. It’s got a stonefruit intensity that’s supplemented by honeysuckle, lifted florals and more. The palate is a tightrope of texture, lively fruit and even livelier acids. Nicely framed, crisp clean lines with long, insistent finish. A svelte Spaniard that would keep your dusted calamari company.

Pazo Senorans Albarino Rias Baixas 2010
Nicely lifted stonefruit and citrus essence with some honeyed spice and green herbs. A wonderfully full and textured palate that rolls and lumbers casually around the mouth before a crisp laser guided zing kicks into action. Clean, refreshing but with a defined fruit core that is refreshing and full of character. I’m a big fan of this, excuse me while I have another glass.
