The Pawn Wine Co El Desperado Rose 13% $20
I love a bit of pink pawn in my life and this perky number is made with Sangiovese from the Adelaide Hills. The bottle comes with a natty little hologram that must have cost a fortune but it’s visually arresting and so’s the pale palour of the wine.
It smells of redcurrants and cherries, of musk and crab apple and lots of other perfumed ephemera I can’t begin to list. But it’s an attractive prospect. The red fruit is lively and punctuated by bursts of scintillating citrus and a dry, savoury finish. Perfect food wine.
Rogers & Rufus Rose 2011 Grenache 11% $17.95
This really flicks my pink dials; vital raspberry, perfumed cherry and hints of spice, particularly white pepper. It’s really savoury and dry. What I like about this is the texture, the refreshment, the dryness and the mouth watering finish is exemplary. A really smart rosé.
